This year, DMF Systems marks 27 years of supporting healthcare organisations through digital transformation and enhanced communication through its innovative solutions. As we reflect on where we’ve come from and all we’ve accomplished since 1998, we’re also looking ahead. That’s why we’re excited to unveil a new visual identity, one that’s not only fresh and future-facing, but also grounded in something much older: our Irish roots, our values, and the meaning of connection.
A New Look That Reflects Who We Are
Our new logo takes inspiration from Ogham, the earliest written form of the Irish language. You might know Ogham from ancient standing stones scattered across the Irish landscape, simple vertical markings that once carried deep meaning. But Ogham was more than just an early alphabet. It was a purpose-built system of communication: precise, efficient, and elegant in its logic.
“We were drawn to Ogham because it’s rooted in Irish history. It was used to record and communicate important messages in Ireland between the 4th and 9th centuries AD. That idea of a dependable system used to communicate important information really resonated with us. At DMF, we build solutions that help healthcare providers share vital information clearly and safely. Choosing Ogham felt like a way to acknowledge our past, and to reflect who we are as a reliable partner delivering solutions that provide value to our customers.”
– Cathy FitzGerald, Director at DMF Systems.

That idea of structured communication, of turning complexity into something clear and trustworthy, felt instantly familiar to us. It’s what we’ve always done at DMF. In healthcare, as in language, clarity and context matter. Our work has always been about helping clinicians and healthcare teams get the right information, at the right time, in the right place. From lab results to electronic discharge summaries, from ICU dashboards to patient portals, we build the sometimes-invisible infrastructure that keeps healthcare flowing.
The new identity goes deeper than design. It reflects our continued commitment to supporting the people who keep healthcare going by giving them the tools they need to focus on delivering the best patient care.
The Meaning of Ogham in Modern Health Tech
Why Ogham? Why now?
Because in many ways, the challenges that early Ogham users faced – how to communicate clearly across distance, how to preserve meaning in a fast-changing world – are not so different from those in digital healthcare today.
In the same way Ogham brought structure and consistency to early Irish communication, DMF’s solutions bring logic and order to the complex world of healthcare data. Our solutions act as bridges between systems, languages, workflows and people, connecting the dots in environments where timing and trust are critical.
The visual language of our new identity takes cues from this logic: clean lines, structured form, and a sense of timelessness. The Ogham influence speaks to how we work: deliberate, thoughtful, and always focused on making systems work for people, not the other way around.
DMF Systems From 1998 to Today
DMF Systems was founded in 1998 by Declan FitzGerald. With a background in healthcare technology and a vision to improve how clinical information is managed and shared, Declan set out to build something better—more connected, more reliable, and more responsive to the realities of hospitals and frontline care.
In those early years, DMF Systems worked closely with Irish hospitals to design bespoke systems that could meet specific local challenges. As the company grew, so did its portfolio. Solutions like MediBRIDGE, our Laboratory Communications System, and the GeneCIS Clinical Portal have become trusted tools across hospital groups, supporting everything from eDischarge and ICU audit to national ICU bed information tracking. Our ICU Bed Information System, in particular, has played a vital role in managing critical care capacity across Ireland, on a daily basis as a capacity of 95% is the norm.

However, while our footprint has expanded, our values remain unchanged. DMF Systems remains an Irish, family-run company at heart. Declan’s children Cathy and Ciaran are longstanding members of the DMF Systems team. And they’re not the only siblings on the DMF team. Miguel and Carlos, two brothers on the development team, are valuable team members. Miguel has been with the company since its humble beginnings in 1998. It’s something we’re quietly proud of: a company where relationships matter, where people stay, and where success is measured not just in solutions delivered, but in long-term trust earned.
“When I started DMF Systems in 1998, it was with a simple but ambitious goal: to make healthcare information more accessible, accurate, and actionable. Over the past 27 years, we’ve grown from a small team with a big idea into a trusted partner for hospitals and healthcare providers across Ireland and beyond. This brand refresh marks not just a new chapter, but a celebration of the journey so far – the innovative technology we’ve created, the partnerships we’ve built, and the impact we’ve made on patient care. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, and more excited than ever for what lies ahead.”
– Declan FitzGerald, Managing Director, DMF Systems
Today, DMF’s reach extends beyond Ireland. We work with healthcare organisations in other countries as well, bringing the same practical insight, technical rigour, and spirit of partnership to every project. As we look to the future, we remain rooted in the ethos that started it all: improving healthcare by making communication safer, faster, and smarter.
Informed by the Past, Looking to the Future
The work ahead in digital health is significant. New technologies, changing patient expectations, and a global push for better data and more integrated systems all create both challenge and opportunity.
At DMF, we see this as a chance to double down on what we do best: partner with healthcare providers to deliver solutions that are smart, robust, and designed with real-world use in mind.
To our clients, partners, and team members: Thank you for being part of the last 27 years. We’re excited for the future and what comes next.
